Contacting the Band

I emailed Vienna Ditto to explain why I was contacting them and to see if they were open to the possibility of allowing me permission to use one of their tracks for a music video. However, as myself and the other member of my group decided to use a different track I did not pursue further in negotiating with Vienna Ditto. I have included the email that I sent requiring permission to work with the band.

Fold and their track, "Mr. President, we're in trouble" was found by another member of group; therefore they had contact with the group about asking permission for the track. Below are the emails that were exchanged between the member of my group and Seth, the frontman of Fold.

Seth explained that Fold have an EP coming out; therefore two of the lead tracks would be best for them in terms of a music video. Both of the tracks were of a high quality, but weren't really as strong as the track that we had decided to use (Mr. President, we're in trouble) in terms of opportunites for narrative structure and the themes that we had already begun to think of. For example, "Mr. President, we're in trouble" provided opportunities to include political themes and a strong connection to Levi-Strauss' media theory that binary opposition drives narrative. With this in mind, the member of my group emailed Seth back, explaining the situation and our thoughts. In response, Seth sent this email:

This was an encouraging response as permission was recieved for "Mr. President".
